Senior Living Is Fun At Grace Ridge

Each month at Grace Ridge Retirement Community, we publish a calendar of events jam-packed with all kinds of activities, meetings, exercise and more for the active senior. For instance, we celebrated National Doughnut Day on June 7 with the Southern sweetness of Krispy Kreme Doughnuts! (Those chocolate covered cream-filled ones go fast.)

Despite the doughnuts, we do have a culture of wellness here at Grace Ridge. We are averaging six or more residents on the weekly community walks. For the June 4 “community walk” we did a “gallery crawl” for the Second Annual Western North Carolina Studio Glass Exhibition at four locations in downtown Morganton. The artistry on display left us in awe for those who can work in this difficult medium.

Several residents have taken advantage of the “Silver Sneakers” program at Phifer Wellness Center and we’ve started a Go4Life series on Thursday mornings from the National Institute on Aging that features exercises you can do almost anywhere. Who says retirement living can’t be active and fun?
You can learn about some fun events going on in nearby Asheville, North Carolina here.

We are also continuing our search for a Thai Chi instructor and have applied for a grant for “Conductorcise” – a wellness concept using classical music. Check back soon to see if we’ve been successful with either one! Find out why Grace Ridge is senior living at its best.
